Eric Mwenda, Co-Founder and CEO of the WiA Group and Abdulrahman Kinana, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the WiA Group, provide the leadership and vision for the company. They are assisted by a cadre of young, energetic and talented mangers and professionals that function in a dynamic and collegial style.

Eric Mwenda
Chief Executive Officer

Eric Mwenda is the founder of WiA Company Ltd and the CEO of the WiA Group, a consortium of specialized ICT companies including Comsol, WiA Ltd, WIA Gaming, WIA Media, Dimension Data and Convergence Partners. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick where he focused on corporate finance, derivatives, financial markets, investment management, financial management and corporate management.

After leaving college, Mwenda worked as an investment banking specialist for CIBC Mellon Bank in Toronto Canada where he represented clients, such as the American Growth Fund, Oppenheimer, Daimler-Chrysler, JP Morgan and AIG Insurance. His responsibilities included sensitivity analysis on variables influencing project cash flows as well as tracking financial systems to identify key project risks.

When Mwenda returned to Tanzania in 2004 he became heavily involved as an entrepreneur in the information technologies sector. His first venture was the deployment of the first WiFi networks in prominent public locations, including major East African airports. Subsequently, he started WiA Company Ltd as a commercial internet provider. Through his leadership WiA has evolved into the Technology, Media and Telecommunication investment management firm, the WiA Group. Mwenda is also a co-founder and the Chairman of the Tanzania Digital Alliance, a trade association of Tanzania ICT executives, entrepreneurs and practitioners.


Abdulrahman Kinana
Chairperson of the Board of Directors

Abdulrahman Kinana is one of the founding principals and the Chairman of the WiA Group. Previously Abdulrahman Kinana served as a member of the Tanzanian Parliament for the Arusha region for two terms from 1985-1995. He went on to become the Deputy Minister of Defense and National Service from 1985-1990 and thereafter he became the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from 1990-1991. He was then appointed Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly 2001-2006. Abdulrahman Kinana has been active in several industries and has chaired several major companies including Diamond Shipping, Coastal Development, Tanzania Pharmaceuticals and Meditech Industries. Abdulrahman Kinana is also a member of several boards such as Alexander Forbes Tanzania and Artumas Energy Tanzania Ltd.

Abdulrahman Kinana is currently the Chairman of both WiA Group and WiA Company Ltd. He is also a member of the two most powerful executive wings of the ruling party the National Executive Committee and the Central Committee.

Abdulrahman Kinana holds a Bachelor Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Ljubiliana University in Yugoslavia and a Masters in Management and Public Administration from Harvard University in the United States.
